But correct on screen is not the same as correct on paper. Ink spread, weak contrast or a tired printer can quietly break a scan, and you only find out at the checkout.

Is the barcode generator really free?
Yes. Pick a format, enter your value, and download a PNG or SVG. There is no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many you make.
Which barcode formats can I create?
Five 1D formats: EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, Code 128 and Code 39. The BarcodeCraft app additionally generates Code 93 plus the 2D formats PDF417 and Aztec.
What is a check digit, and do I have to calculate it?
No. For EAN-13, UPC-A and EAN-8 the last digit is a checksum of the others. Enter the 12, 11 or 7 leading digits and the generator computes and appends the correct check digit for you.
Can I download a vector (SVG) file?
Yes. Both PNG and SVG are free here. SVG is vector, so it stays razor-sharp at any size, which is what you want for printing on packaging and labels.
Can I use these barcodes commercially?
Yes, the barcodes are yours to use. One honest caveat for retail: to sell through stores or marketplaces you need a product number issued by GS1, the body that owns EAN/UPC numbering. This tool draws a correct barcode for any number you already own.
Will the barcode actually scan?
The generator uses high contrast and keeps the quiet zones, so the code is correct on screen. Printing is the variable: ink spread, low contrast or a poor printer can break a scan. Scan your printed label back with the BarcodeCraft app to confirm it decodes before a big run.
Can I change the color or remove the background?
Three preset bar colors are free here, on a white background for dependable scanning. Custom and brand colors plus transparent backgrounds are Pro features in the BarcodeCraft app for iPhone and iPad.
Do I need the app to use this generator?
No, the web tool is completely free on its own. The BarcodeCraft app adds the things a browser cannot: scan-to-verify with your camera, more formats, brand colors, and fully offline use on iPhone and iPad.
